Rotunda in Baltimore restoration cleaning & mortar repair 2024
Final rinse prior to applying water repellant on the limestone.
On large projects it is necessary to cover the building as quickly as possible. Here we re applying Citrashield to this masonry that is horribly covered in biological material. We allow this set in place for a couple of weeks to make sure it has penetrated to the root. Then, we rinse and apply a water repellent to the building masonry.
Here we are removing hard stains from concrete with warm water and medium pressure. A restoration cleaner has been applied to heavier stained areas before this removal process. It will have a water repellent applied as the final step in the restoration & preservation.
This video covers the exterior application of Easy Spary for restoration of the Reserve Officers Association located at 1 Constitution Avenue in Washington, DC. This is a full restoration of the exterior limestone, metal framing, handrails, granite/bluestone roof anchor installation and rust removal.
In December 2020, CSCI had been tasked by the Architect of the Capitol to provide scaffold training, a scaffold plan & scaffolding for the US Capitol dome maintenance in time for the Presidential inauguration. Video shows the scaffolding being lifted to the US Capitol roof top for this project.
Maquette of the Alexander Calder sculpture "Mountains & Clouds". CSCI was prominently illustrated for the restoration work we performed on this. Enjoy!
